Welcome to all
Dark Shadows Fans!
Welcome to Dark Shadows fans from "the
most evil lady who ever lived" -- or at least that's how
I was referred to when I was playing Eve on DS. I've gotten
to know many of you through the DS Festivals, but I know
there are some who can't get to these wonderful weekends, or
worse yet, don't know anything about them. I hope to fill that
gap and to keep our regular Festival-goers up to date with this
Web site. You'll see updates on Festival and personal
appearances including photos with my co-stars and fans, my theatrical
scrapbook with stories and photos of many theatre productions,
and my photography gallery (I'm also a professional photographer.)
My career memoir, On Stage & In Shadows was published
in 2005, and is available on Barnes&Noble.com
and Amazon.com.It
can also be purchased at your favorite bookstore or at our Festivals.
And, there's a fabulous special offer, that you'll find
as you read on.
It's always been such fun to see our faithful fans
at the Festivals, and now it's great to be in touch with all
of you through my Website.
Hope you enjoy it.

Darling Jonathan Frid
some time in the '80s |
April 19, 2012
It is with a sad heart that I write of Jonathan
Frid today, a few days after his peaceful death. Jonathan
means so much to so many people and he holds a very dear spot
in my heart too.
We worked together on Dark Shadows. and that
was the most wonderful professional experience. But we really
got to know each other very well, a number of years later, when
we would meet with Louis Edmonds and have great evenings of eating
and drinking and talking. It was at the same time that he began
his one-man shows, and I was one of his biggest fans.
We really got to know and love each when, in the 1980's,
David Moore asked Jonathan to direct "The Lion In Winter"
at Georgia College, and Jonathan asked me to play Eleanor of
Aquitaine. That was quite an experience and cemented our friendship
forever.
Jonathan Frid was a "one-in-a-million
kind of guy, and I am so lucky to have known him. |

Here I am with Donna MacKechnie (photo appeared

of the Union Square Theatre in New York City. We attended the
opening night performance and party of "Desperate Writers".
We talked about the upcoming Dark Shadows Fest and it I think
she'll be there along with me and the rest of the gang. |

We missed our opening date of March 9th because one
of our actors fell ill. However, he recovered quickly, and we
had a truly fabulous opening on Friday, March 11th. We have many
Dark Shadows fans signed up to see the play next week, and there's
a group driving up from Maryland with Guy Haines, and regulars
like Lorraine and Schurah will of course be there. One DS fan
did show up on our first "opening night" - George Sauer.
We took lots of photos and talked and he'll be back for a future
performance. Photos will follow. In the meantime, see FaceBook |

July, 2010 Dark Shadows
Fest
was the BEST!!!
|

I'll be posting lots of photos soon (the above
is from a former Fest but it's so cute, I dont mind leaving it
up for a while longer.) |
Many wonderful old fans (not in age, but in years
coming to the festivals) were there, and at least 40% or more
were NEW fans, or first-time Festival goers. It was at
the Marriott Burbank Convention Center,
in, of course, beautiful downtown Burbank.

his shots on my site, and many taken with my camera but shot

And what a line-up of cast members we
had for this most exciting event!
Jonathan Frid, David Selby, Lara Parker, John Karlen, Kathryn
Leigh Scott, Jerry Lacy, Roger David, Kathleen Cody, Christopher
Pennock, Lisa Richards, Jim Storm, and Moi!
We also had appearances by Bob Cobert, Stuart Manning, Big Finish
Productions, Sy Tomashoff, and probably a few more wonderful
people who somehow I was too busy to see. |

Great Success!
September 20th EAT Benefit
Concert
"Broadway Sings for EAT's Supper"
I was on the benefit committee for Emerging Artists
Theatre, (the non-profit theatre group where I played in "The
Chiselers" and "Where's Sheila"), and had a very
successful evening on September 20th. We had a catered party/concert
that took place from 6-9 pm at the Prince George Ballroom at
the Prince George Hotel.
Tony Award winner Victoria
Clark (The Light in the Piazza) and Tony Award nominee Chad Kimball
(Memphis) entertained us, along with other Broadway performers
including Capathia Jenkins (Caroline, or Change), Ryan Duncan
(Altar Boyz) and Sebastian LaCause (Dancing in the Dark). The
songs chosen by the artists, had the lyrics changed by the EAT
playwrights into "food" songs. They were all marvelous,
and Capathia Jenkins rendition of "All Those Yams"
(All That Jazz) was spectacular.
Emerging Artists Theatre
devotes its programming to developing new works from new playwrights
and theatre artists. The company has premiered over 300 new works
in its 18-year history.
In addition to benefiting Emerging Artists Theatre,
proceeds will also go to the Actors Fund of America and Common
Ground.

Dark Shadows Festivals get better and
better each year - that's what all the fans tell me, and I think
so too!
Our last one was in 2009, on August 14, 15 & 16th at the
Renaissance Newark Airport
Hotel
in beautiful, downtown Elizabeth, New Jersey
I was there along with Jonathan Frid, Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh
Scott, John Karlen, and Jerry Lacy.
We had planned to have Donna Wandrey there, but I'm sorry to
say that she ended up with a terrible
summer cold and wasn't able to be there. She was disappointed,
and we actors and her fans were equally so.
But those of us who were there had a glorious time.

Theatrical
I was in the production of Mark
Finley's "The Chiselers"
for the Emerging Artists Theatre's SPRING EATFEST 2009
I played the marvelous character of Beverly Carstairs and had
a wonderful director, Melissa Attebery, who guided us through
the production with great expertise. We did our last performance
on Saturday, March 7th, and I was sorry to see it end. But we
had a lovely packed house, with many DS fans, and we all had
a great time.

I recently had the pleasure of being filmed
for an upcoming documentary about Larry Storch. It was a fun
day and I have a few photos to show that enjoyment. Anne Meara
and Jerry Stiller also were interviewed that day and they were
delightful. Larry, as always, kept me laughing all day.

My friend, Larry Storch, (Corporal
Agarn, of F Troop), just sent me this copy of a photo
of us when we were rehearsing for a production of I Oughta
Be in Pictures. It was in 1981 at The Hampton Playhouse in
Hampton, New Hampshire. We had such a marvelous time doing that
show. There are lots of stories about it in my book, On Stage

Craig Hamrick and Michael Karol are the editors of my book,
